R134A Refrigerant Sensor FAQ
Is R134a flammable?
R134a is classified as A1 under ASHRAE refrigerant safety classification, indicating lower toxicity and no flame propagation under the specified test conditions. A1 classification does not remove the need to manage pressure, oxygen displacement, refrigerant emissions and application-specific safety requirements.
Which R134A sensor is better: NDIR or semiconductor?
NDIR is generally preferred when the controller needs a measured concentration, conditioned output and stronger long-term selectivity. A semiconductor sensor is often preferred when compact size and component cost are the main drivers and the OEM can develop the external circuit, threshold logic and compensation.
Can one sensor detect R134a and other refrigerants?
Yes. MH-441D, MP510C and MP511D support multiple listed refrigerants. However, sensor response differs by gas, so the final product should use the correct gas configuration, calibration data and validation procedure for each target refrigerant.
What detection range is available for R134a?
